Inside of Me
I want people to see,
The things that are inside of me,
A heart that hurts and bleeds,
When it’s not given what it needs.
If you would take just a minute to look,
Don’t just see the cover of this book,
You may just find,
We are two of a kind.
A kind word spoken,
A promise never broken,
A warm gentle embrace,
My Lords loving grace.
My loyalty to a friend,
A strong shoulder to lend,
An attentive listening ear,
So that all of those troubles I can hear.
A smile from the heart,
A joke that will rip your sides apart,
An easy laughter to put anyone at ease,
A willingness to please.
A special place to share,
For a friend that needs the care,
Always a hug and arms wide open,
To heal a heart that’s broken.
If you care to look inside of me,
These are things you will see,
But if you only look at the outer skin,
You’ll never see the beauty within.
